Who is Films Dreams Colombia?
Films Dreams is a cultural sector company specializing in composing, recording, and performing music for film and audiovisual media. It was founded in February 2022 by Wilmer Guzmán, a musician, composer, and conductor. Films Dreams has an ensemble called the Films Dreams Symphony Orchestra, made up of professional musicians and students in the final semesters of their undergraduate studies. The orchestra engages in various activities such as live movie concerts featuring famous film scores from movies like Superman, Batman, Star Wars, and Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as TV series soundtracks and even Japanese anime.
As part of its thematic concert series, Films Dreams is launching a leadership and emotional intelligence workshop for 2024. This workshop will be conducted by a professional clinical psychologist and will be accompanied by both original and pre-existing cinematic music. The entire workshop will have a cinematic theme featuring DC Comics and Marvel Studios.
Another area that Films Dreams covers is the composition and recording of original music for film and audiovisual media.
What was the first event held by Films Dreams Colombia and their first collaboration with the Houding Foundation?
On October 25, 2023, Films Dreams held its first ticketed concert at the Universidad del Externado in Colombia. During this event, attendees enjoyed musical performances of film scores. The event was a resounding success, with several attendees expressing their satisfaction and approaching the stage to congratulate the musicians, including Ricardo Castro, the representative from the Houding Foundation. This interaction marked the beginning of the relationship between the two parties, with Ricardo offering Films Dreams support to realize their potential.
After several meetings between the Foundation and Films Dreams Colombia, a Christmas Movie Concert was held on December 16, 2023. This concert was performed by the Films Dreams Symphony Orchestra, sponsored by the Houding Foundation with support from BibloRed and DC Fans Colombia. The Foundation’s support, in collaboration with BibloRed, made it possible for the concert to be free of charge, thereby increasing exposure for Films Dreams and their talent.
Wilmer, what lessons do you highlight from working with the Foundation?
What I highlight is the human aspect. The Foundation’s vision to help businesses planted a seed in my company that allowed us to grow, open new business lines, and organize our objectives.
Secondly, I relate my learnings to the business side. I’ve learned to be a better leader, to sell my services, and to communicate effectively both verbally and through gestures with potential clients.
What recommendations do you have for new entrepreneurs?
Don’t give up; it’s not easy to be an entrepreneur. It’s often idealized, but the important thing is to stay focused and not to give up despite difficulties.
Seek guidance or advisors with experience; this provides a boost to open pathways and focus your direction. Before the advice and guidance I received from the Foundation, I only had two business lines. Now, I have seven.
Films Dreams Colombia, with support from the Houding Foundation and in partnership with Colegio INEM Santiago Pérez Tunal, will start a symphonic music training program with an emphasis on film music in the second semester of 2024. This program will be offered free of charge to children and young students at Colegio INEM, the Tunjuelito locality, and the city of Bogotá.
